Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) is the globally leading on-premises calling and collaboration platform, trusted by over 30 million users.
Cisco has announced its intent to support the Nutanix AHV hypervisor within the UCM portfolio, enabling UCM deployments on the Nutanix Cloud Platform.
Historically UCM only supported VMware ESXi, but with growing customer demand for greater flexibility, licensing cost reduction and simpler operations, Cisco is broadening its virtualization options. This move means UCM customers will have a validated, enterprise-grade platform (on Nutanix AHV) that offers the same high availability, security and performance features they rely on from voice and video calling to messaging, mobility and presence.
General availability is targeted for early 2026, following a close engineering collaboration between Cisco and Nutanix.
This is great news because we have had experiences where customers were afraid to migrate to AHV because they had virtual CUCM on ESXi, which was really a blocking point, but not anymore.
Cisco and Nutanix, removing one of the biggest obstacles to adopting the platform.
So, no more excuses to delay the move to AHV!
